How to send photos and videos in Telegram without compression
Send an original photo or video as a Telegram file, understand HD versus file uploads, and check the source before giving it to a media tool.
Use Telegram’s File attachment option when the recipient or bot needs the source file. HD photo sharing is a separate option. Check the selected copy and the tool’s limits before uploading.
Start with the file you actually want to send
An editor asks for the original photograph, but the chat contains a screenshot of its preview. A bot needs a video file, but it receives a small copy saved from another conversation. Both problems start before the upload: the selected file is already a derivative.
Find the camera original or the approved export in your own library or storage. Keep it alongside any delivery copy. Sending a small derivative as a file cannot restore detail that was lost earlier. If you received the asset from a client, ask for the source export rather than repeatedly saving the chat preview.
Send it as a file on iPhone or Android
Telegram’s official instructions for iOS and Android use the attachment menu’s File option to send photos and videos at their full quality and size. The exact picker layout can vary by app version; the important choice is the file attachment path.
In the destination chat, open the attachment menu, choose File and select the saved photo or video. Review the selected filename before sending. For a bot, first open the intended tool and follow its upload prompt so the file reaches the right workflow.
- Choose the original or approved export, not a screenshot of it.
- Check that the selected extension and file size match the copy you intended.
- For several files, test one representative asset before sending the rest.
- Keep the local original until the returned result has passed review.
Is Telegram HD the same as sending a file?
No. Telegram documents HD as a higher-quality photo-sharing option alongside its existing ability to send full-resolution originals as files. The HD choice is useful for viewing in chat; it is not the same instruction as sending the original file.
Choose according to the recipient’s task. Someone checking a composition may only need a viewable preview. Someone inspecting metadata or preparing another export should receive the agreed source file. Label previews clearly so another operator does not mistake one for the master.
| What the recipient needs | What to send | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A quick visual approval | A clearly labelled preview | The reviewer knows it is a preview. |
| The source for editing or processing | The agreed original or export as a file | Filename, dimensions and file size match the intended copy. |
| A finished public delivery | The approved delivery copy | Its format, visible quality and metadata suit the destination. |
Check the downloaded copy, not just its thumbnail
For a handoff that matters, ask the recipient to download the attachment and open it. Compare the dimensions and file size with the source record. A matching filename alone is weak evidence because different exports can share a name. A visual match alone also cannot confirm that metadata or every byte is unchanged.
If exact file identity is a requirement, agree a checksum comparison as a separate verification step. For an ordinary editing handoff, a simpler record may be enough: source filename, dimensions, byte size and which copy was approved. State what you checked instead of calling every file transfer lossless without checking.
The upload method does not replace tool or privacy checks
A file that Telegram can send may still exceed the selected bot tool’s input limit or use an unsupported format. Check the current Spoofzy tool page before a large upload. Video Studio asks for the best available video as a Telegram file; SynthID Removal has its own image inputs and limits.
File sharing is also not a metadata-cleaning step. If GPS, device details or capture dates should be removed before a client receives the final asset, prepare and inspect a separate delivery copy. Use the metadata handoff guide below for that decision, then send the approved copy as a file.
